We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Modern Dad Pages (Rod McKenzie):

I remember well these days as I was going to the hospital 3,4 or 5
times a day looking after my family as well as looking after my mom and dad. We spent weeks doing tests and just trying to figure out what was happening to dad. I can still remember the moment the Doctor asked if we could go to the cafeteria as he needed to talk to me.  It was a Sunday morning about 9 am. As we sat I knew what was coming and he wasn’t sure how to approach me with the news as he was trying to deliver it gently.

I remember blurting out at him “he has cancer right?”. The Doctor
just nodded, said yes and then started to talk about everything we would
have to do now. My chest went heavy and my eyes welled up with tears as I felt completely helpless. I couldn’t do anything for him except be
there for him.

Shanels Story:

My name is Shanel and my courageous mother has been fighting this dire disease for over a decade. We have been through the wars with cancer, my mother being on the front line, my brothers and I her soldiers by her side. I have witnessed cancer destroy my mother’s body, the treatment played havoc, the side effects would at times nearly defeat my mother. By the grace of a higher power and her own resolution to not give up she fought with every ounce of her being.

I admire my mother and to me she is the most inspirational woman on this planet. With this cancer plaguing her, she still found time to be there
for others. She is so strong that she is the rock of our family and
extended. Our friends call her mum and turn up at the house for a chat,
as she is so approachable and non judgmental. They told us years ago it is terminal, the last trail didn’t work, neither did chemotherapy or
radiotherapy. Charities like Cancer Research are discovering and
creating new medicines each day, they are so important to people like
me. Their trails have kept my mother’s cancer at bay, there may still be
a new drug that we can try.I pray and hope that one day the cure for
cancer will be discovered. Play a part in making that happen please,
donate today.

Thank you.
