Preston Guild Half Marathon · 28 October 2012
WELCOME to my charity page; this year I will be running the Preston Guild half marathon (13.1 miles) on behalf on my brother-in law Mark Higham; the run will be completed in support of a great charity called Speakeasy.
Speakeasy is a charity for people with aphasia, a communication difficulty following a stroke or head injury. This Charity has made a hugely positive impact on Mark’s journey of recovery since he suffered a major stroke in August 2011; this stroke unfortunately left Mark with speech and mobility difficulties which he has been managing as part of a recovery programme.
Amazingly, Mark has made excellent progress in his recovery and this can be put mainly down to two things, one being his self-determination and tenacity and the other being the brilliant help and support of family, organisations and charities such as Speakeasy.
Mark has chosen the Speakeasy charity because they have helped him regain and improve his ability to communicate and this was achieved through the long term support of volunteers who provide speech and language therapy. This type of support has been invaluable as it has helped Mark regain his confidence and as a result he is back to socialising and being fully involved in family activity, this has given Mark a quality of life that may not have otherwise been possible.
On behalf of Mark his family and friends, PLEASE J would you help benefit other people who have been unfortunate enough to have suffered speech difficulties as a result of a stroke or head injury, by donating whatever you can afford though this Just Giving Web-Page.
Your help is greatly appreciated and will provide much needed support for many others in a similar situation to Mark
THANK-YOU SO MUCH…..
