Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
By now we all know of the death and destruction that has fallen upon Syria. The ongoing conflict has caused the largest humanitarian crisis since World War 2. More than 11 million people have been killed or forced to flee their homes.
For us in the UK, the crisis has been half hidden in the shadows as we ignorantly go about our lives. For me now, it is almost as if a blinding light has been shone upon it as I approach my 18th birthday, where adulthood should strike me like a lightening bolt. I have begun to question the meaning and the value of my own life compared to those children, women and men torn from their homes, forced to ask themselves whether they will survive the night.
I ask myself what would hurt me more the loss of humanity or the lack of empathy and understanding for fellow man. As we idly watch the crisis on TV under our secure roofs whilst they pray, cry and dream of a better future.
The people of Syria have lost everything, their homes, their families, their culture. They endure worsening conditions everyday as the conflict in Syria heads towards the 6th year.
I ask of you to donate today to help provide basic and necessary aid for the Syrian refugees and help those most vulnerable with urgently needed relief - including water, food, medicine, blankets, warm clothes, household items, nappies and hygiene supplies.
I, with the help UNHCR, my chosen charity, hope to reduce the number of desperate Syrians resorting to smugglers and falling prey to traffickers to reach safety elsewhere.
So I ask of you to give anything you can so that we may spark hope.
Help save a life, a future, a generation.
