Story
Hi folks, thanks for clicking the link. Its been a few years since I tried to help the cause and raise some money for Prostate Cancer UK.
Dad was diagnosed with uncurable Prostate Cancer 5 years ago but luckily is on some great medication and is still well. With it being 5 years since his diagnosis and 2026 being the year I turn 50, I though its about time i came up with a new endurance challenge to prove that even at 50 people can still extraordinary things.
The Challenge (Never been done before, We think)
So to keep in the 5 and 50 years theme, I have came up with a 5 day challenge that is 550 miles long. On the 30th of June 2026, I will start in Wales and climb Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. When I get down I will jump straight on my bike and cycle from Wales to the Lake district and tackle Scafell Pike the highest mountain in England. Then as you might now guess it'll be back on the bike and cycle to Fortwilliam and climb Ben Nevis, The highest mountain in Scotland and the UK. Hopefully by doing 150 miles and a mountain a day, I'll complete this in 3 days
But were not finished yet.
After Ben Nevis the bike and hiking boots will be put away and running shoes come out. The very next day I will go straight into trying to run the full West Highland Way in one go. 96 miles on foot from Fortwilliam to Milngavie. This in itself is a massive challenge, or so I keep getting told by people that have done it, so im not sure its even possible after cycling the 3 peaks in 3 days. I guess I'll find out.
I have two friends Louis Ford and Ian MacGregor already committed to the cycling legs of the challenge and i will be looking for some support crew and runners for the West Highland Way Sections. If you want to be legends like Louis and Ian then give me a shout on socials.
Prostate Cancer effects 1 in 8 men and if you have a close family member who has been diagnosed your risk goes to 1 in 3. If you catch it early enough you can live a long and healthy life but screening and testing are so important. Even though they know this the Government will not fund national screening. Prostate Cancer UK is pushing for this but also paying for testing and screening from their own funding. By putting my self in a dark place for 5 days I'm hoping to raise awareness and hopefully some much needed funds to help family's across the whole country. If you can spare any little amount of money it would be really really appreciated not just by my family but millions of family's UK Wide. If you've got this far thanks for reading and wish me luck,,,, Training starts now!
