We are a UK registered charity working to support the poor & needy. We have been working for over 10 years to improve their lives in various ways. Since our inception we have provided: nearly 200 wells, food rations for more than 2000 people annually, school books for children & orphan sponsorship.

Story

Project Summary

Serving Humanity Foundation working in the remote villages in Kinniya Ds division of Trincomalee district and the people are most vulnerable and poor and living in remote area without fundamental facility, they need support for their children education.  The proposed project is planning to implement in 4 villages such as Naduoothu, Soorangal, Katkuli and Majeed Nagar. The school going children need School bag, Books and Notebooks,Writing materials for their studies. The rural poor students are coming from poor of poor family who are fighting their daily foods and other expenses; the family income is not enough for their daily bread.

However the children attending to particular school is having difficult to purchase educational equipment such as school bags, exercise book, etc. As the result regular attendant is a general problem. In order to increase attending rate in preschool certain agencies including Divisional Secretary has requested SHF to assist promote early childhood development. They cannot buy the study material for their children, in this situation create not good education to children and they don’t attend regular classes in school because of they have no basic facilities for studies, Serving Humanity Foundation are planning to support these school going children for their good studies.

Beneficiaries Selection criteria

:

  • School going children age group from 5 to 10 year.
  • Coming from poor family and destitute mother’s children, children without father or mother or both

Activities carried out:

  • Awareness on primary education.
  •  To distribute School bags for 500 rural poor School going children
  • To distribute writing and reading materials for 500 school going children
  • 500 school going children make them to go to school very perfect and good study through follow up.

Background

The 3 decade old civil unrest and devastating disasters have entirely cluttered the social fabric of the eastern province negatively impacting in the Socio –cultural and education set ups of the provinces which relatively saw a serious setback in the early childhood development arena for years. The existingSchools in the province lack the capacity and resources to sustain their functioning due to amicable mechanisms to support their operation and function qualitatively. More over the Schools in the most remote areas of the district face serious setbacks due to restricted resources of Human and physical inputs. This has negatively resulted in poor early childhood development School management in many circles.
