Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Myself and Harry have been involved in raising money for Macmillan since Primary school, taking part in annual coffee mornings and baking cakes to sell. However, Macmillan soon became a personal charity while I was still young. My granddad became terminally ill and it was the Macmillan nurses who gave great support to him and the whole family through very difficult times. Seeing first-hand how genuinely supportive and caring all of the Macmillan workers are made me even more determined to support this worthwhile cause.
Since we’ve been in sixth form we’ve become involved in the charities and events team, helping to organise the last Macmillan Coffee morning within the school. However, this year we’re determined to raise a significant amount of money that we hope will help this charity continue the great work that they do.
The ‘event’ will be staged at William Brookes School on October 4th as that is the date of this year’s coffee morning, which starts at 9:30am and finished at 1:15pm – everyone’s welcome! The head-shaving will take place in front of fellow students and those in younger years at the school. Although head-shaving isn’t the conventional way to raise money for Macmillan (seen more for charities such as cancer research), I thought it was an empathetic (and for myself, challenging) gesture to raise money and awareness about Macmillan’s work. Please support and donate as much as you can – every penny counts!
