We support deaf children and their families to make their future brighter.

Story

My daughter, Daisy, is deaf. We knew she would have an issue with her hearing when she was just a few weeks old. She got her first hearing aids just after her first birthday. After a steady deterioration to her hearing, the decision was made for her to have cochlear implants fitted. She had her operation in May 21 and after a very tough few months, her incredible determination means that we can now say, she's hearing better than ever!

Throughout this process, the support & resources provided by NDCS have been invaluable. NDCS's vision is for a world without barriers for every deaf child. This is very much a vision that we share for Daisy. We want her to experience every opportunity that a hearing child is able to.

NDCS support deaf children & young people, their families, schools and much more. I would now like to do something to support them and help them to continue towards achieving their vision.

The challenge came about after several comments regarding my lack of fitness. Some from close friends and family I could handle, but when complete strangers commented, I felt compelled to do something. I have given myself 87 days from 1st January to 28th March 2022 to complete 400 miles before my 40th birthday. The aim is to cycle 250 miles & run a further 150 miles. It's an average of 4.60 mile per day and will be a huge challenge for me through the dark, cold & often wet winter months.

All donations will be massively appreciated and help keep me going when my legs, head & lungs want to give up. Thank you for your support & wish me luck!
