Night time BA walk · 12 June 2020

Garden House Hospice Care offers care and support to patients and their families. As a registered charity the hospice is dependent on donations so hospice care can be offered through in-patient admissions, day hospice, hospice at home, out-patients clinics and the family support team.

Story

Garden House Hospice Care provides specialist palliative care for patients, families and carers facing life limiting illnesses, to enable them to have the best possible quality of life by providing care and support in the setting of their choice, without discrimination.

On the evening of June 12th the Baldock and Letchworth On-Call Firefighters are raising much needed funding for the Letchworth Garden House Hospice Care.

Due to recent events, fundraising has been minimal. The On-Call crew at Baldock and Letchworth fire station are willing to wear their full fire kit and breathing apparatus sets and walk a staggering 13.6 miles around the letchworth greenway. The fire kit and BA sets weigh a whopping 26kg, which is likely to distribute a helping of blisters and sore bodies.

Guided by flashlights and torches, they will set off in the evening. Why? This is so that they can ensure minimal interaction with the public and can maintain the social distancing rules.

We are not asking for anyone to join us and endure this with us. All we are asking is for generous donations so that a top level of care can continue to be given by the Garden House Hospice Care facility.

Any donation, big or small, will be gratefully received and will be a welcoming sight in what has been a tough year for charities.

Much love and support

Baldock and Letchworth On-call Firefighters
