Story
Conquer the Alps Cycling Challenge
In September this year I will go to the French Alps to participate in a sponsored cycle ride for Macmillan Cancer Support. I have done three charity rides in the past (all for SCOPE); none as arduous as this though! Over just three days I will (hopefully) cycle up and over 6 mountain passes that are synonymous with the Tour de France – e.g. Col de La Madeleine, Col du Galibier and the most famous and terrifying of the lot, Alpe D’Huez. I am no Marco Pantani or Lance Armstrong and will spend the months leading up to the event getting myself fitter than ever before. I will need to - the total ascent is over 7000 metres, the equivalent of cycling up Ditchling Beacon (on the London toBrighton) about 28 times. Will I be able to do it? I really do not know – it will take me places I have never been before both physically and mentally.
Please help me to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan. We are all touched by cancer at some point of our lives – Macmillan exists to improve the lives of everyone living with cancer. Rest assured, this ride will hurt like hell!
