TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE STILL DYING OF CANCER
Few words are powerful enough to describe the heartache of losing a loved one to cancer. Watching this dreadful disease overtake the desire to live has been life changing for the whole family, my children are still coming to terms with the loss of their Nanny. Mum was not going without a fight; she challenged the disease every day for a period of two years, right to the very end. We need more research to develop treatments to fight this disease with less hazardous side effects.
Over this next year we as a family aim to raise over £15,000, this will be added to donations received from the Tower to Tower Cycle Challenge, thus, hopefully reaching our target of over £70,000. This will fund a two year Clinical Nursing Fellowship at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, 'The Shirley Ann Grocock Fellowship'
If you would like to get involved in the fundraising or have any suggestions please contact me barbaranorth@hotmail.co.uk.
And so it is over, 23 riders cycled from the Leicester Clock Tower to the Eiffel Tower stopping at Bicester, Basingstoke, Portsmouth, Caen, Evreux, Versailles and Paris. Over £50,000 was raised for the Fellowship, and this will be added to the fundraising target as soon as possible. I am now busy organising the 'Tulip Ball' in memory of mum, to be held at The Walkers Stadium on 28th April 007. This will hopefully bring the total to £70,000. A huge thank you to all my sponsors.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: The Hope Foundation For Cancer Research will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.
Please donate every little helps.
Many thanks for your support.
