Event: London Landmarks Half Marathon 2021, on 1 August 2021
For the first time, Young Citizens is participating in the prestigious London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday, 29th March 2020! Our team of runners are out to raise vital awareness and funds to grow our work. Please help them!

Story

We have been involved in the Legal Experts in Schools ("LEIS") programme - which is run by Young Citizens - since joining Barclays, and co-ordinate the programme on behalf of the Legal function.

LEIS is a fantastic, skills-based volunteering programme which is designed to increase young people's awareness and understanding of the law whilst developing their transferable skills and raising their aspirations.  Barclays has partnered with two schools for a number of years now, and we have been truly inspired by the change that Young Citizens can - and does - make.  The educational and soft skill benefits aside, giving up a small amount of our time provides the students with an opportunity to interact with adults who they might not otherwise come into contact with and talk about careers that they might not otherwise have considered.

Year after year, we get such great feedback from our partner schools and our volunteers, and it is this positivity that convinced us to say "yes" to Young Citizens' request that we run the London Landmarks Half Marathon on their behalf!

Young Citizens seek to help young people to become active, engaged and motivated citizens by improving their understanding of the law, their rights and responsibilities and by helping them to engage in democratic society through social action.  Young Citizens' work ranges from the empowerment of teachers and volunteering professionals with specialist training and resources to work with young people (through initiatives like LEIS) to immersive learning projects.  They also campaign to persuade those in power of the importance of high quality citizenship education for every young person, whoever they are.

We would love for you to sponsor us by giving whatever you can (as every little bit really does count!).  Your kind donation will help get us around the course, and help Young Citizens to continue all of their great work, so "THANK YOU" in advance for your support.
