Fundraiser for Christmas Hampers - Tower Hamlets Food Bank · 9 December 2015

First Love Foundation is a charity fighting poverty in Tower Hamlets. Our Advocacy & Advice team works to tackle the root causes of poverty faced by low-income households, enabling them to live sustainable and independent lives.

Story

Please help us raise as much as possible for an excellent cause!

In the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, 48.6% of children live in poverty, and one fifth of households have an annual income of less than £15,000. As winter closes in and bills for heating rise, Christmas can become a time of upset and anxiety.

Since 2012, First Love Foundation have run a Christmas Hamper Appeal – a community effort to enable families and individuals in Tower Hamlets to enjoy the festive season together. Every year, with the help of organisations and local people across the borough, we have put together hundreds of special festive food hampers, as well as toys for children, and gifts for parents. We have also invited families to join us for a Christmas celebration, to receive these gifts and have festive fun together.

Last year, they supported over 450 people through the appeal – none of which would have been possible without donations from hundreds of individuals and organisations like you.

This year, Love at Christmas aims to be bigger than ever before and reach more people who are facing crisis. At this event there will be a Christmas lunch, entertainment and gifts for all the families, couples and single people invited. We will also be delivering food hampers and gifts to young people across the borough who are resident in hostels and might otherwise be isolated from friends and families.

All money raised will go directly to the charity to allow them to distribute hampers to those who need it most, from those who attend the Tower Hamlets Food bank to isolated residents in local youth hostels.

If you wish to give offline there are collections buckets located in 5NC and 1CP. We are also looking for new toys and toiletries and there will be a drop-off point in 5NC - please contact Matthew Farrell, Tonyia Ramsook, Julian Sampson and/or Tom McConnell for further detail.

If you would like any more information please contact Amy Ertan, Natalie Plant or Daniela Pinardi.
