Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

This September, Barclays colleagues are teaming up with The Diana Award’s Back 2 School campaign to complete a virtual series of challenges in order to raise funds for this changemaking charity.

THE DIANA AWARD
The Diana Award is a charity legacy to Diana, Princess of Wales’ belief that young people have the power to change the world for the better. Their mission is to foster, develop and inspire positive change in the lives of young people.

They do this in three key ways…

1. DRIVING CHANGE

Facilitating change through practical action with young people, partnering them with a business leader to act as a role model as part of our Mentoring programme.

2. RECOGNISING CHANGE

Rewarding positive change made by young people through their Awards ceremonies.

3. MOBILISING CHANGE

Celebrating and supporting ongoing change in young people and encouraging social action with their Anti Bullying Ambassador programme.

The Diana Award x Barclays

The Diana Award x Barclays relationship stretches back over many years, with Barclays first completing a fundraiser for the charity in 2012. Since then, every two years, Barclays colleagues have signed up for all kinds of physical challenges raising a total of over £100,000 for the charity.
With the next instalment of the cycle being postponed until summer 2021 due to the on going Covid 19 situation, we are keen to ensure we can support the Diana Award in 2020, as they react to the on going situation and provide much needed support services.
In September, after a long period away, 10 million children in the UK are going back to school. The Diana Award’s Mentoring Programme operates in London, Birmingham, Leeds, and Jersey, supporting vulnerable pre GCSE teens who have inevitably been greatly affected by the current situation, to build character and resilience, instil active citizenship, improve post secondary work readiness, and break down barriers to social mobility.

THE CHALLENGE

As a team of four, we will be aiming to run, walk, bike, row and swim as many miles as possible through the whole of September. The minimum distance we're committing to do is 1,000 miles (for £1,000). However, we fully expect to smash through that mileage and hopefully the fundraising target too!
