We provide hospice care for babies, children and young people living with life-limiting conditions and their families. Hospice stays, emergency care, palliative care and end of life care at 3 children's hospices; Little Bridge House in Devon, Charlton Farm in Somerset and Little Harbour in Cornwall.

Story

In 2010 Bardon Concrete South West have decided to support a local charity called Children's Hospice South West (http://www.chsw.org.uk) and plan to focus on raising £10,000 and potentially volunteering time to support their activities.

Children’s Hospice South West cares for children who have illnesses which mean they will not make it to adulthood. They provide expert care for them, their parents and their siblings. Their first hospice, Little Bridge House in North Devon, opened its doors to families from across the South West in 1995. Little Bridge House very quickly became oversubscribed, which led to the opening of the charity’s second hospice, Charlton Farm, located just outside Bristol, in 2007. They are now in the process of raising funds through their 'Precious Lives Appeal' to build a third hospice in Cornwall called Little Harbour. This will complete a chain of children's hospices covering Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Bristol and Bath.

This is a very worthwhile cause working in a geographic area that is closely aligned to our network of plants in the South West. We are planning many events including a sponsored bike ride, a golf day, sportsmen night, grand raffle and collections at local football and rugby clubs.

Grand Summer Draw

One of the first fundraising events we have is a Grand Summer Draw to take place on Thursday 9th September at St Mellion Golf Club. We have many prizes to offer such as cash prizes up to £200, Digital Cameras, Golf Days at various clubs, Rugby and Football game tickets, an overnight stay at a 4* hotel in the city centre of Plymouth and many more. We are hoping to raise up to £2,000 for this worth while cause.

Sponsored Bike Ride

Bardon Concrete has formed a team of 7 employees Jermey Budd, Steve Curley, , Alan Edwards, John Edwards, Chris Maunder, Michael Parker and Simon Wycherely who aim to cycle 240 miles from Lands End to Southampton covering the operational area of Bardon Concrete South West. They aim to complete the challenge in four days starting on Thursday 16th September 2010. We are aiming to raise up to £4000 through sponsorship from our customers, suppliers, friends and family. In addition to sponsorship we are also selling advertising space on their team shirts.

Sportmens Night

On Thursday 4th November we are hoping to carry out a Sportmens Night with a guest celebrity and hope to raise up to £4000. We will let you know all the details shortly.

As I am sure you will all agree this is a great cause and any donations are greatly received by Bardon Concrete but most improtantly Children's Hospice South West
