Barracuda swim around Manhattan (28.5 miles) · 21 November 2018

Alzheimer Scotland is the leading, national dementia charity in Scotland. Our mission is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide advice, information and support and we are here for people living with dementia, their families and carers across Scotland.

Story

After the recent success and popularity of the 22 mile swim the channel challenge. The Barracuda Club has now set a new 28.5mile swim around Manhattan challenge. Raising money for our chosen charity, Alzheimers Scotland! 1mile = 114 lengths in the barracuda swimming pool.

Alzheimer Scotland helps people with dementia, their carers and families. Their members include carers, relatives, people with dementia, professionals, groups and organisations. They employ around 550 full and part-time staff, mainly in their service-provision projects around Scotland and are supported by over 900 volunteers.

If they can go the extra mile to help people suffering from dementia so can we by helping raise money for those in need.

Alzheimer Scotland is the leading dementia organisation in Scotland. They campaign for the rights of people with dementia and their families and provide an extensive range of innovative and personalised support services. Their aims:

  • To provide and to secure the provision of high quality services for people with dementia
  • To provide and to secure the provision of high quality services for carers of people with dementia.

Alzheimer Scotland's vision

"We aim to engage and connect with everyone who has a stake in what we do; to provide support and information, raise funds, support research, to campaign for and promote the rights of people with dementia and for those who care for them.

"Together we can be the leading force for change. Together we can make sure nobody faces dementia alone."
