At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

From the 1st October, Vivien Schofield, Mary Alpert, Lisa Cooke and Janet Fearnley will all be joining Hilda Duncombe on a walk to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society in celebration of Hilda's 104th Birthday this year (26th October 2020).

Hilda previously walked 103 laps of Bartlett's to celebrate her 103rd birthday and 25th anniversary of the Home. Her walk was also in memory of her husband Stanley Duncombe who was sadly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and whom she nursed for several years before he passed away in 2001. Hilda was greatly inspired by Sir Captain Tom Moore, and managed to raise over £7,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society herself! This year, she will be walking with 4 other remarkable ladies from Bartlett's, who all have this particular cause close to their hearts.
