Now that Decembeard has officially ended and the beard can come off, I have taken the ill-advised step of promising to let my wife shave it off in installments - as long as the donations keep coming in!

Every £50 more will prompt another 'artistic' shaving session, I am very scared.

I'm taking part in Decembeard this year and plan to grow a proper beard, for the first time in my life.

I can often go a few days with stubble, but then have to shave it all off again before I go to any sort of work meeting, or to stop people laughing at me in the street!

As it is officially 'Decembeard' I beleive people will give me a chance to produce a full, manly beard, and I can also raise some cash for a great charity in the process.

Every day I speak to people who have been affected by this preventable disease, the second biggest cancer killer there is.

Only by getting people to talk more openly about bottoms and bowels can we make them aware of symptoms that may indicate a problem, help us stop people dying of embarrassment.

 

 I started this challenge a few days early, for the sake of my family who may insist it is shaved off for Christmas day!
