At BASIS we are committed to supporting the mental health of our members and have collaborated with the DPJ Foundation to offer this mental health awareness training for our BASIS members only. We would suggest those attending may want to make a donation of £15 to the DPJ Foundation to help them continue their work. 

A recent survey found that 88% of farmers under the age of 40 felt mental health was the biggest danger facing the industry. With many of our members working closely with farmers and within agriculture this course provides the perfect opportunity for you to improve your skills on mental health awareness.

DPJ provided their first course for BASIS members on 10th March and are offering another on 7th September. There are 16 places available for this 3.5-hour session from 9:15 until 12:45. Once 16 places are filled we will keep a waiting list and put on future sessions where demand allows.

This training will help you to spot the signs of someone with poor mental health, know how to support them, how to encourage them to access support and also how to look after your own mental health. It is delivered in an engaging way with lots of opportunity for discussion and to ask questions.

It is designed to support anyone farming, their family, those living in the rural community or providing services to farming and rural communities. On completion of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion from the DPJ Foundation.
