I am running the Birmingham Half marathon to raise funds for a really worthwhile charitable group that I also help run voluntarily in my spare time. The charity is called the Birmingham Yes group (www.birminghamyesgroup.com), which is a dynamic community of like minded individuals. Each month it attracts some of the best contemporary public speakers in the fields of personal and professional development, which our members pay to attend.

The money is then used to fund the Birmingham Basket Brigade (www.birminghambasketbrigade.org.uk) which is a concept started in America by a motivational speaker named Tony Robbins and that now takes place all over the world. Basically we buy food wholesale and pack it into food parcels to give a Christmas meal to disadvantaged and underpriviliged families across Birmingham. Our volunteers (we usually need around 80-100) pack the food parcels and then deliver them to these homes personally. If you would be interested in volunteering details are on the website.
