Story
This summer I am going to attempt to cross the mouth of the Tyne in a boat made 100% out of repurposed scrap- mainly, a thrown out bathtub and a broken down lawnmower! I will be setting sail from North Shields Fish Quay Sand and, with a little bit of luck, docking at South Shields Little Haven Beach this August. Exact date will be confirmed closer to the time as it is very much weather dependent.
Whether I make the almost 1km voyage in my bathtub without a hitch or sink right in the middle of a busy shipping lane remains to be seen, only time will tell. One thing is for certain, its going to be a spectacle to behold so please show your support by coming to watch, spending a little time in this lovely area and donating what you can to this wonderful charity, and please be generous, I may end up needing their help!
Too many people are still drowning. More than ever we need the RNLI’s help. As a charity, the RNLI depends on our donations so it can go on saving lives and keeping us and our loved ones safe. RNLI lifesavers are our lifeline. They’re the lifeboat crews who provide 24-hour search and rescue right around the UK and Ireland. The lifeguards keeping watch on 240 of the busiest beaches in the UK and Channel Islands. And the RNLI safety teams and educators working tirelessly to stop people getting into trouble in the first place. Thank you.
