Welcome to the Exeter Climbs Kilimanjaro 2022 campaign! These incredible students are taking on the challenge of a lifetime all whilst helping in the fight against meningitis and septicaemia.

Story

Soooo...I've done something crazy...I've decided to sign myself up to climb Kilimanjaro in 2022😅.

Why?? Yes, it might be to wade off the anxiety of graduating in June, or to gain immense bragging rights, or just an excuse to postpone real life for a little bit longer... But mostly, it's to raise money for the Meningitis Research Foundation.

Meningitis is scary stuff, 25% of teenagers carry it without knowing, and if it develops into meningococcal disease, the death rate is 50% if left untreated. It can kill within 12 hours, and is responsible for more deaths of children under 5 worldwide than malaria, measles, tetanus and AIDS combined.

And this is where you come in...MRF are providing better access to vaccines, and health systems that can diagnose and treat children, as well as providing support to survivors of meningitis worldwide, including right here in the UK. We wouldn't have our vaccines without them!

Throughout the next year, I'm planning some mental stuff for fundraising/training ahead of Kili. I'm hoping to climb Snowdon, maybe even a cheeky half marathon if the funds are there.. So keep an eye on this page!!
