Since 1966, the SAA has been helping lost, abandoned and unwanted animals in Greater Manchester. However, the Sanctuary now needs to develop sustainable fundraising and feels an onsite café will be a great resource for the charity and the community.

Story

Rabbits are now the most mistreated animals in the UK with so many being abandoned daily the waiting lists for sanctuaries are at breaking point. Since the 1960s, the Society for Abandoned Animals has been helping lost, abandoned and unwanted animals in Manchester and the North West of England. In 1994, the charity moved to our current site - Mosley Acre Farm in Sale, Manchester. It is in a wonderful location, sitting between the canal and the river, and conveniently located for all areas of Manchester and the wider area, as transport links are good.We are currently rebuilding and renovating the site and want to create facilities which can raise funds.Being able to use the site to effectively raise funds is key as we enter into a period where more animals than ever are likely to need our help, coupled with increased demand on charitable giving. We therefore want to build a small café which will cater to walkers, runners, cyclists and other towpath users; to visitors and to event attendees. This will provide a much needed source of income so we can help many lost, abandoned and unwanted animals for many years to come.
