Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Tom and Matt both hail from a small town near the Lake District, Barrow in Furness, they both have a love of cycling, mountains, challenges and both sport a beard... We are the Bearded Barrovians.
Many charities this year have seen most, if not all, of their fundraising events cancelled where the majority of their much-needed donations would have come from. St. Mary’s Hospice is a charity close to both our hearts, and do great work in the local community, and with the easing of lockdowns we’re eager to push our bodies to the limits once more in the hope to raise much needed funds for this great charity.
The original plan was to tackle the Raid Pyrenean and all the planning had been put in place, but due to new restrictions our trip was cancelled. Not the type to sit around and dwell, we redirected our training and planning to the next challenge idea, the NC500 in Scotland.
The NC500 will see us embarking on a 500-mile trip around one of the world’s most iconic coastal touring routes that explores the Northern Coast of Scotland – often recommended to be undertaken in no less than 5 days driving – we’ll be tackling this on bicycle, cycling it all in 5 days and camping along the way. So roughly 100 miles a day and a total of 32,000 ft of ascent, all while lugging our camping equipment and trying to not get eaten alive by the midges! Ouch!
Anything you can donate to our charity page would be greatly appreciated and make all those midges bites and saddle sores all worthwhile.
Peace out,
The Bearded Barrovians
