Endagin SwimRun · 11 July 2015
For reasons that we cannot quite now remember on Saturday 11th July four members of the Baggy Breakfast Club are attempting our toughest challenge yet. Mark Hagley, Dave Greer, Matt Percival and Richard Elliott will be hoping to complete the Endagin Swimrun in the Swiss mountains https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=123a8Uap2C0
The race course is about 53km long (33 miles) of which about 47 km is mountain running and 6km is open water lake swimming. This is going to be challenging enough but to add to the fun the event is completed in pairs and you keep your kit on all the way – running in your wetsuit and swimming in your trainers! Temperature is also going to be a challenge as the air temperature is likely to be up in the 20’s and the coldest lake will be 9 degrees!
We are also using this event to raise some money for an extremely good cause. Lily is a wonderful, bright and outgoing 14 year old who lives in Georgeham. Lily faces the daily challenge of living with intestinal failure and needs to be fed with a central line into her heart. Along with regular trips to Great Ormond Street Hospital for treatment (where she has had over 60 general aesthetics during her treatments) Lily has to manage a demanding care plan at home including 5 IV drugs.
We would love to help support Lily to continue receiving treatment at home. It is essential that Lily’s care is carried out in a very clean and sterile environment and for that she needs a designated preparation room in the house. We would like to ask you to consider giving here to help towards equipping this room.
All the money donated here will be used via ‘The Pickwell Foundation’ to purchase equipment to support Lily’s care at home.
Thanks so much!
