Cape to Monte Carlo car rally for Macmillans · 24 April 2015

The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

Almost all of us know someone who has died from Cancer.  Most will be like my Dad and have had support from Macmillans.

In order to raise vital funds for them, 48 classic cars will  leave Northern France on April 24th and follow a route  to Monte Carlo .

The automotive students at Basingstoke College of Technology have helped prepare the car for this rally. BCoT is one of very few colleges to actually have their own racing team of two Toyota MR2 cars. The racing team are reliant on the support of sponsors to cover the cost of a season’s racing and so for each £1.00 that you contribute to help Macmillans ,my company , My Pad Haus will donate £1.00  * to help  BCoT Motorsport apprentices .

In the words of one of the BCoT students      " a real win - win for 2 very good causes  "

( * Up to £500 in matched funding is available )

My Pad Haus is an innovative solution to  housing for young people . We use factory construction  to make amazing  and affordable homes. Built to the highest quality standards of Passiv Haus they cost very  little in heating bills

This run to Monte Carlo is one of the  Cape 2 Cape series of rallies for classic cars started by Dennis Greenslade in Cornwall. The first 10 events raised over £550,000 through the generosity of people like you and me .

My brother , Gordon , is coming over from Virginia to take part with me . We hope to remember the successes of his rallying days in a Ford Escort Mexico around the time when the  Rover 3500S was made . ( we hope not to repeat the modifications to his car when the route was "Not as Map ! " )

Your donation will really help  people through one of the biggest challenges of their lives.

I find it inspirational to realise that over half the people who get cancer now fully recover , it is equally scary that more people are getting cancers than ever before and so Macmillans need many more nurses and supporters.
