Walk for Welcome · 12 June 2021 to 13 June 2021 ·
Please make me accountable to you! From 29 June Tim and I will be setting out on an epic challenge - at least for me! Going up those hills of the Lake District and Pennines is no mean feat but with your support I'll be able to give it that extra push!! We are hosts for Upbeat and have also helped them with food distribution for refugee families during lockdown. Many of our refugee and asylum seeker friends have had to flee violence, war or persecution in their home country to find safety for themselves or their family. For some, the journey involved thousands of miles travelling on foot, often with children in tow, through deserts and mountain ranges, crossing rivers and borders, walking in darkness, sunshine and rain. They have carried only what they can fit on their backs or in suitcases. They have endured unimaginable hardship, pain and fear. Upbeat Communities are inviting supporters to take part in a Walk, Cycle or Run for Welcome and raise money to help us support our friends, many of whom have walked through several countries in search of safety. Either sponsor me per mile (ha! its 150 miles approx and lots of it uphill!) or per day or just with any amount - it will soooo encourage me and do good to those who really need our support!
