Story
On 14th October I will be running my first marathon to raise money for the development of the much needed Emergency Assessment Bay (EAB) on Talbot Butler Cancer Ward in Northampton General Hospital (NGI). My Auntie Wiz has received fantastic care from the Oncology department at NGI and I would like to support the hospital with their current campaign.
Cancer patients in Oncology and Haematology are often ill between their treatment cycles and require emergency support and review. Currently outside of opening hours 9am-5pm Monday to Friday when the capacity of the current EAB is reached, patients are forced to go to A&E. Patients frequently have weakened immune systems due to their treatment making A&E a far from ideal place to be.
The money raised will go towards the development of a new Emergency Assessment Bay. It will have dedicated areas for triage, assessment and examinations and will offer patients 24/7 specialist support.
