Story

Update: sadly Beccy can’t run as she has been injured but I’m going alone and she is going to do her own virtual London Landmarks over a week so watch this space. Thanks for all your support so far ❤️

Update: Boris Says Yes to 2021!

Well 2020 was cancelled but we are back for 2021! We will be running on the 1st August i London, fingers crossed its not too hot! Please support us if you can.

Beccy and I (Claire) are taking part in the 2020 London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money and awareness for The Lily Foundation. A charity dedicated to supporting families effected by Mitochondrial Disease and funding research to find a cure. A cruel, debilitating genetic condition with no treatment or cure.

Mitochondrial Disease has touched both of our lives. In 2012 my 16 month old son Jacob died from the disease. During his visits to hospital and on his last visit he,  Bob and I, were cared for so wonderfully by Beccy.  She shared such an important part of his journey and made the unimaginably sad time a little easier. I am now proud to call her my friend.

We did our first London Landmarks together (it was my second) in 2019 and although we finished in a respectable time we both had some really tough times on route and there were tears (mine). So we have a score to settle. In 2020 we want to do it again, in our Lily running tops with our heads held high all because of my gorgeous Jacob whose time with us was far too short.

We have been training hard, but we need your help too as we need to raise a few pennies.........

Every day in the UK a child is born with Mitochondrial Disease. The condition means that the cells of the body can not make enough energy to survive and eventually die. This effects vital organs and can lead to organ failure. The condition is life limiting and too many lives are taken too early. The Lily foundation is dedicated to change this and you can help us help them.

A couple of coffees and cake will cost you the best part of £10...... maybe for one week you could kindly donate that to us to give to them, to make a difference to a family like mine, so instead of hearing the Dr say "there is nothing we can do" they will say "we can help you child live by taking this......"

Thank you so very much

Claire and Beccy xx
