Story
As most of you may know, I work in a primary school as a Pastoral lead. I am absolutely committed to improving the mental health and wellbeing of our children and young people. With that at the forefront of my mind, I will be taking part in this year's Great North Run for Place2be, the children's mental health charity. Place2be offer support and workshops within schools to improve mental health awareness, as well as providing advice and support to parents and carers through their Parenting Smart website. Place2Be help children to cope with wide-ranging and often complex social issues including bullying, bereavement, domestic violence, family breakdown, neglect and trauma.
So, basically this is why I do what I do...
1 in 6 children and young people aged 5-16 have a DIAGNOSABLE mental health problem. That's 5 children in every class.
50% of lifelong mental health problems are ESTABLISHED by the age of 14.
1 in 10 boys aged 5-19 with a mental health problem are excluded in some form from school.
We have to do more to help these kids. We have to make sure that ALL children are comfortable sharing and talking about their feelings, and that they know that mental health problems are as common and normal as physical health problems.
I would absolutely love it if you could spare a couple of quid to help me raise awareness for Place2be and support the invaluable work they do with and for our children and young people. If every single one of my FB friends give just £1, I will reach my fundraising target ❤️
Thanks for staying with it 'til the end 🙃Much love, Beck 😘
