Story
Flat 108 is delivered by the Y, it is a independent living flat and works with young people 14-18 with disabilities. The main focus is to enable independence. Staff at Flat 108 provide training, advice, guidance and support to young people preparing for adulthood. This outcome focused support includes use of the accessible flat, overnight stays, travel training, support in taking positive risks and support in developing skills for independent living. They work in partnership with other public services, schools and colleges to develop positive pathways for young people to employment, housing, good health, friendships and relationships and the community.
I am the lead of a communication and participation group for young people with disabilities aged 14-25 called the Big Mouth Forum. They would like to ensure the flat can support young people 18 - 25 years old. They have challenged me to walk from Market Harborough (where I live) to Leicester (where I work)
My hope is that I can complete the challenge by August 2018, fingers crossed!!!!
