Story
In May 2018, to mark the Friary’s 30th birthday, I’m aiming to complete 10 Triathlons in 10 Days. Each of these involves a 5 km run, a 20 km bike ride and a 750 m swim.
I’ve been with the Friary for 8 years, firstly as a volunteer and since 2014
as a member of staff. The Friary supports homeless and vulnerable people in rebuilding their lives. We offer practical services (food, clothing, shower etc.), advice and emotional support. Visitors can also see a range of health professionals including a GP and a nurse specialising in treating rough sleepers.
As a drop-in we’re open 3 mornings a week with an average of 90 attendees each morning. At other times, people can be seen by appointment.
In addition to their housing and/or financial situation, individuals who use the Friary often face a number of other challenges including mental and physical health problems, substance misuse, social exclusion, illiteracy and domestic abuse/violence.
If you’re able to sponsor me, that would be great and very much appreciated and a real motivation when training for and actually doing the challenge.
Thank you for getting this far!
