Charity Abseil · 9 September 2009
On 2 October 2009, along with 13 volunteers from , I will be heading to the desert to support a community building project co-ordinated by The Makhad Trust.
The Makhad Trust is a not-for-profit organisation which runs village-based development programmes in nomadic regions. Leeds Met volunteers will help villagers from the Muzeina tribe undertake various construction tasks including: collecting stones and sand, making breeze blocks, helping to plaster the school walls, mixing cement and constructing bamboo shade shelters.
To raise money for not only this community project but other projects co-ordinated by The Makhad Trust a team of us intend to abseil down a 100ft building at Leeds Met's Civic Quarter Campus. Please please will you sponsor me to complete the abseil? I am a little scared of heights and the idea of launching myself off a city centre building is not too appealing!
Family and friends have also very kindly offered to launch themselves off the building to raise money for the volunteering project, if you know any of the charity abseil team members mentioned please sponsor us!
THANK YOU!
