It all started, as these things often do, with one of my “surprise bookings.” Sometimes I treat Pete to unexpected concert tickets… and sometimes I accidentally sign us up for a full‑day endurance challenge on the Jurassic Coast. This time, I may have blurred the line between spontaneity and a possible mid‑life crisis. To make it even better, our friends Sue and Keir have been enthusiastically roped in.

In June, our team of four will be taking on the Race the Sun: Jurassic Coast Challenge to raise vital funds for Action Medical Research — a charity dedicated to improving the lives of sick and vulnerable babies and children through groundbreaking medical research.

This challenge is no small feat. We’ll be pushing ourselves across the stunning but seriously tough Jurassic Coast, taking on a full day of physical endurance as we hike (10 miles), bike (21 miles) and kayak (2 miles) navigating our way through one of the most dramatic landscapes in the UK. It’s going to be demanding, but we’re determined to give it everything we’ve got.

We’re taking part because Action Medical Research funds life‑changing work — from developing new treatments and medical breakthroughs to supporting research that gives children the best possible start in life. Their work saves lives, transforms futures, and gives hope to families facing incredibly difficult situations.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps fuel this research and brings us one step closer to making a real difference.
