Story

Thank you for taking a bit of time out of your day to visit my fundraising page. I know there are so many people these days raising money for so many great causes we become blind to how we can all make a difference, by just giving a little. We all have big hearts and deep pockets but sometimes short arms :)

I'm raising money for Jett who has Muscular Dystrophy. He's a lovely 7 year old boy who lives in Ripon. He's bright and happy, loves dinosaurs, playing music and his tractors.. just like any other little boy. The difference is that he has a muscle wasting condition and there currently is no cure. He suffers from severe pain most days and sadly he has an uncertain future.

Over the last couple of years I have been able to offer Bronco's help in creating a logo and website for his family to help raise their profile. We did our first Tough Mudder for Jett too where he came to cheer the team along.

Two and a half years ago at 41, I started my fitness journey which started with training in the gym once a week.. now its 4 times a week. I started playing rugby, joining Ripon Bluebelles. During my rugby career I have captained the Ladies team winning in front of a home crowd, I've scored a try, I've injured parts of me, and retired at 43. I also took up running, very slowly at first and then I have found a love/hate relationship with it. I'm now doing a few competitive 10k's and running 3 times a week, getting fitter and faster.

Being fit at 44 has been a hard journey, and now I want to give something back to such a good cause, that aims to find a cure to such a cruel condition.

The Great North Run Half Marathon (13.1 miles or 21km) is going to be really tough but I will be part of #TeamOrange and I'll be doing my very best for Jett and Muscular Dystrophy.

So think about how much a few pints of beer are, or a takeaway ... we're not talking about breaking the bank to give a little .. and I hope your arms have grown a little to dig deep into those pockets.

Thank you so much, and I'm so grateful if you can help me and Jett to make a difference.
