Raising funds for Whizz-Kidz is close to my heart. Here is why: Ludo was born 10 years ago. At the age of 2, he was still very unsteady and wobbly. The MRI revealed that part of his cerebellum had atrophied which affected his balance and coordination, and diagnosed a degenerative genetic condition. As you can imagine, I was devastated and my world collapsed. 😭😭 All the dreams I had for my baby shifted radically. Would he live to be a grown man? Would he ever walk unaided and if not, at what age would he require a wheelchair? So many unanswered questions…

Fortunately things have shifted again!  Ludo is a super tough cookie and with lots of help of physio and OT, he has made awesome progress and proven that the initial diagnosis was wrong!!! 😁😁 The paediatric neurologist has now changed her diagnosis to ataxic cerebral palsy. Ludo is a total trooper and is able to walk, run (albeit slower than his peers), swim and do pretty much anything he sets his sights on. All the things that most people don’t think about, require extra brain power for him, like writing - he has a tremor which makes it hard - using knife and fork, etc. but (!) fortunately he is also a very clever boy and incredibly resilient (one of the qualities I admire the most about him). He doesn’t need a wheelchair but 8 years ago I thought that he would.
