Story
Cycling is the quickest and easiest way to get around London and other urban areas. It can be an important way to improve health as part of a healthy lifestyle. 60% of car journeys in London under 5 miles could be walked or cycled. Many people don't cycle because they don't feel safe as there is not enough dedicated infrastructure.
I am taking on the iconic 100-mile distance on Sunday 29th May 2022 to support London Cycling Campaign. They champion the bicycle across the capital and push for more action to make cycling in London safe and accessible for everyone.
The route for 2022 will see me set off from Victoria Embankment in central London and into Essex via the historic Epping Forest. Once in Essex, I will glide past some of the county’s most picturesque towns and villages, including Ongar, Fyfield, the Rodings and Great Dunmow, before joining a section of the 2014 Stage Three Tour de France route. That part of the course will guide me through Felsted and around the county town of Chelmsford before heading through Writtle and back towards Ongar and central London. Once in central London, I will then complete my ride at Tower Bridge.
