Bekki's River Thames Half Marathon page

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For those of you that know me, you will be well aware that I can't run to save my life, literally. For those of you that don't let me give you an idea...
I once decided to 'train' for the Race for Life, I lasted about 5 minutes before deciding my ankles were too weak and I wasn't made for running, so I walked it instead. I used to ask (or maybe tell) my bootcamp instructor that I couldn't run and he would make me do star jumps instead. I did take part in Pretty Muddy in October, but failed to run. And any runs I have attempted in the last god knows how many years, which is really not many, I have made excuses (faking some sort of pain would work! ;)) and that was that.
I will be starting from the very beginning, I don't have trainers, I've no idea what 'gym gear' is and I will probably get out of breath running for 13.1 seconds, let alone 13.1 miles.
But i'm going to do it now I have my motivation. Melanie & Princess Alice Hospice. She is my absolute inspiration, no one, least of all Mel, deserved what she went through. But every time I saw her, she still had a huge smile on her face, her wicked laugh and her crazy sense of humour.
My beautiful cousin Melo spent her last week in Princess Alice Hospice in October 2014 and words cannot explain how grateful we are for the care and support she received. She deserved the absolute best and that's what she got.
This is my little way of saying thank you to all the wonderful staff and nurses so I would really appreciate any donations you are able to make.
Donating to Princess Alice Hospice means they continue to provide compassionate care and support for patients, their families and carers. It costs more than £8 million a year to for Princess Alice to provide their care free of charge, and they receive less than 25% of their funds from the NHS. So they really rely on fundraising and community support. Anything you are able to donate to this wonderful charity will be very much appreciated. No amount is too small! Thank you so much for your support. xx
You can also text your donation MELO55 and your amount (£1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10) to 70070. e.g MELO55 £5 to 70070
£5 could pay for a ward patient's meals for one day, meaning they can enjoy quality freshly prepared food.
£15 could buy supplies for one patient for all their time at the Day Hospice, offering a fun, social and creative outlet in volunteer led classes.
£50 could pay for a complementary therapy session for 2 patients. Reflexology, aromatherapy and massage sessions can help to ease stress, anxiety and pain.
£98 could pay for a visit from a community based Princess Alice Nurse at a patient's home. Their nurses specialist advice and support help patients' and their families and friends to cope with the physical, emotional, social or practical difficulties that people face when they have life limiting illness.
