Together we are collectively walking/running/cycling/swimming the length of Belarus (350 miles north to south) to raise money for The Chernobyl Children's Project (UK) - a charity very close to our hearts!
The Chernobyl disaster of April 1986 continues to affect many generations of families living within Belarus, the country worst affected by the disaster. Many children have been, and continue to be, born with genetic disorders, cancer and disabilities and are living in institutions. CCP(UK) works to provide recuperative holidays and social and educational opportunities for children and young adults with the goal to move them out of these institutions. They also provide support and training for the families and carers of these children. For more information on what the charity does follow this link: https://www.chernobyl-children.org.uk/
This month our volunteers would have been travelling to sanatoriums in Belarus to provide recuperative holidays for children and young adults with disabilities. For some of these children, this is the only holiday they get every few years. However, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic we have not been able to go. Instead we have organised this fundraiser to try and raise whatever we can to ensure that the excellent work that CCP(UK) does can continue in the future!
Any donation small or large will be hugely appreciated! However, we understand that we are living in extremely unprecedented times and that many of you may not be in a position to donate right now, or may already have donated to other worthy causes during the pandemic. But if you get chance, please share our page to help raise awareness of this wonderful charity!
