I have signed up to an Ironman - Challenge Roth 2018. I am part of a small team (team Hatch) raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). 

£100,000 for GOSH is the target.  

A 3.8km swim, 180km bike and 42.2km run is the challenge.

When I signed up, I had completed one triathlon measuring under 10% of an ironman. It would seem I had made an over ambitious decision. However, my lack of triathlon experience was irrelevant.

This is all about Emma.

Emma is the daughter of a colleague and friend of mine, James Hatchley.  Emma tragically passed away in 2014, aged 15, after losing her battle with a rare disease called Churg Strauss. 

Emma spent 4 months at Great Ormond Street prior to her passing with James and his family living at GOSH and being by her side every step of the way. Having got to know James, I have learnt of the incredible support, lasting friendships and abundant care provided by those at the hospital. 

The wonderful care the Hatchley family received, largely funded from the charity, has inspired James. His passion and energy made my decision to join the team a simple one, allowing me to contribute towards an excellent cause.

Having been given a tour of GOSH we were shown where the funding will be going – providing advanced lifesaving medical equipment, child and family support services, pioneering research and the rebuilding and refurbishment of the Hospital.
