London to Paris in 24 Hours · 30 April 2022

St Mungo’s provides a bed and support to more than 3,150 people a night who are either homeless or at risk of homelessness. Our vision is that everyone has a place to call home and can fulfil their hopes and ambitions.

Story

I am currently training to cycle from London to Paris in 24 hours. We will be leaving Greenwich at 3pm on Saturday 30th April and arriving at the Eiffel Tower in Paris on Sunday 1st May around 3pm.

The 24 hr ride will include 180 miles (289km) riding and 5 hours overnight ferry journey from Newhaven to Dieppe (when I will try to sleep!). I have been riding most weekends since Christmas and have recently bought a new bike, so I should be ready to tackle the challenge.

I am fundraising for St Mungo's who support homeless people by running shelters, supported housing and providing employment and skills programmes.

£10 provides groceries for a client moving into short term accommodation. £50 funds a counselling session for a person affected by homelessness. The £485 raised so far could pay someone's deposit as they move from a shelter to independent housing.

I will be cycling with 130 riders and the ride is a sportive coordinated by 'ChallengeSophie' https://www.londontoparissportive.com/.

All donations go to St Mungo's. I have paid for my entry to the event, accommodation, bike etc.
