Story

Most of your reading this will know all about Adam, either because you have had the pleasure of meeting him, or heard me talk about him at almost every opportunity. This is because he is quite simply the most extraordinary person I have, or am ever likely to meet. He was always happy, ready to talk to or help anyone, like a breath of fresh air in your typical group of grumpy teenagers. I was lucky enough to count myself amongst his friends and so would have been making the journey to his house this June for his 21st birthday. Unfortunately Adam had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, so the last time I made this journey was the 22nd of December 2010. You will have to take my word for it when I say he was still smiling laughing a joking that afternoon, although those of you who know him won’t be surprised!

One particular gem of Adam’s wit from the afternoon stuck in my head. When I was offered a chair by a member of his family, he cut in before I could answer with "Don’t bother, he aches when he stands up, and he aches when he sits down." Nevertheless I intend to cycle the journey (31 miles, gulp) I would have made this June, partly to raise money for the Muscular dystrophy campaign, and party because it will give Adam a good laugh wherever he is! Due to the constraints of university I will be doing it from a static bike in Cambridge sometime between the hell of finals and the drunkenness of may week.

DATE: FRIDAY 22ND JUNE, CLARE COLLEGE.

#######################################################

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
