Children of Fire sources medical treatment and provides education, care, and support for child burn survivors like these from South Africa and beyond.

Story

I made some bad descisions eariler this year that lead me up to signing up for the ealing half marathon!  So on the basis that some good should come out of it i'm raising money for a great charity. I first learnt about Children of Fire when my sister in law (Debbie) volunteered for them a few years ago taking care of the kids over the summer. It's fantastic small charity where every pound raised make a huge difference.

On an eariler fund raising exersise Debbie desribed the work the charity does better than i ever could:

"Each year thousands of children in Africa are burned. For those who fight to survive, recovery feels interminable; disfigurement is life long. These brave children undergo years of painful expensive surgery to regain quality
of life. They endure bullying, staring, ridicule. I know this - I have witnessed it first hand.

Children of Fire rebuilds these heroic kids. With world-leading surgery, schooling and even climbing to the highest point of Africa with them, it loves them back to life. I know this - I have witnessed it first hand."
