Story

*UPDATE - Having hit my initial target of £500 by the halfway stage of the challenge, I am increasing my goal to £1,000 by the end of the 90 days. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far!*

Hi, my name is Ben Elliott. You might remember me from classic gameshow appearances on Pointless, Countdown, and The Chase, three shows that I singlehandedly put on the map. Okay, that last part isn’t true, but I had my moments on all three and I am proud of my performances, for the most part.

When I am not pursuing my goal of becoming a gameshow legend, I run Unreal Ideal Ltd, a writing consultancy based in Newcastle Upon Tyne that specialises in education and wellbeing. As a company, one of the initial projects we undertook was The Wellbeing 9-a-Day Journal, a fantastic tool that is designed to empower users to improve their health and wellbeing by building nine daily habits that form the basis of a healthy lifestyle.

This project has been very special for me, as it was made in partnership with Live Well with Cancer, a volunteer-led cancer charity founded by my mother, Maureen Elliott, the number one cancer nurse in the north east of England (in my opinion at least). All funds raised through sales of The Wellbeing 9-a-Day Journal will help the charity in their mission of empowering people affected by cancer to improve their health and wellbeing.

As part of the launch campaign, I have set myself the challenge of writing a daily blog for each of the 90 days that I will personally be using The Wellbeing 9-a-Day Journal. My aim is to support others using the journal, both now and in the future, and raise funds for Live Well with Cancer in the process.

Though I am a writer by trade, this will be the first time that I have written a blog under my own name. Starting my blogging career with 90 entries is going to be a challenge, but I am looking forward to taking it on, and I am hoping that you will join me for some of it. I will cap each blog at 500-600 words so that I don’t overwhelm myself with writing (and you with reading) over the next three months.

My intention is to use the blog as a platform to write about the Wellbeing 9-a-Day (W9AD) and my own experiences with the journal. However, there are a couple of things I will not be talking about, namely politics and news. As one of my main aims is to support anyone who takes on the W9AD 90-day challenge, I don’t want to date the blogs for future readers with references to current events, and there are much better sources for your news and politics than a man who actively doesn’t follow it.

I am very excited to share The Wellbeing 9-a-Day Journal with you. The best way to support this campaign is to buy your own copy at https://www.livewellwithcancer.co.uk/product-page/wellbeing-9-a-day-journal and start your journey towards transformed wellbeing.

We would also love to see you at Live Well with Cancer’s upcoming W9AD in-person and online workshops. Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, these sessions will be a great way to learn more about how to use the journal. You can register your interest by emailing livewellwithcancer@gmail.com.

Well done, everyone. Thank you very much for your time :)
