Story
We both know the power of surf therapy (it certainly chills us out!) and are privileged to have 2 children who, to date, have had a pretty normal?(what's normal!) upbringing. We are fortunate and count our blessings every day for this.
We hope that should Lily and Poppy ever encounter challenges in their lives, that they would be supported to help find a way through them. The Wave Project does just that. It provides opportunities to young people who for one reason or the other are facing challenges in their lives, they may be being bullied, anxious, or have a mental or physical disability. Surf therapy works. The young people are provided a free 6 week surf programme during which they are mentored by volunteer surf coaches on a 1:1 ratio and get to meet others who like them are facing challenges in their lives. The results are amazing, all anxieties and doubts are left on the beach as the kids find out what life is like to ride on the crest of a wave. It is the reason for the Charities continued success and for our continued support to it.
This is Helen's first ever half marathon and she has been training hard for this, heck she even fitted in a 9 mile run this morning and is still alive!
Ben has run this event a few times now and last time (2 years ago now)he ran it with a surf board, ever conscious of the need to continually up his game if he is going to asking people for sponsorship, he has been following a training plan, running 4 times a week and is thinking of going for a PB, but will it be with the surf board.."how about yes if we raise over £500!?"
