Story
Ive set up this fundraising page on behalf of my wife Emma Licence and her family for the kind, caring and funny Patricia Andrews who they called Mum, Nan & Nanny 2!
Patricia Andrews passed away peacefully at Ipswich Hospital on January 29th 2021. Nanny P (the term I used when texting her) was diagnosed with incurable Leukaemia over 7 years ago just after she saw me and my wife get married in Cyprus and the news shocked the whole family! The fighter she was she took to chemo like it was nothing and never complained once and to be fair this treatment gave her back a normal life and she was able to do the stuff she loved doing like walking to Tesco to get her shopping or walking her dog Max over the park.
The hardest part for the family was being unable to spend her last few weeks with her because of Covid restrictions at the hospital. Nanny 2 (as the great grandchildren called her) loved and lived for them and they truly kept her going. She will never ever be forgotten by the children because they will always be reminded of how much of a special person and Nan she was.
Ive always wanted to do the London Marathon and have been unsuccessful for the last 5 years but when I got the acceptance by Anthony Nolan this year to run for them it was like Pat was watching over me. I hope I can do her proud and raise enough money for this incredible charity that helps saves the lives of people with blood cancer who need a stem cell transplant.
I would also like to mention that my Auntie Amanda Black also passed just over a year ago at Ipswich Hospital at the age of 50 years old with Breast Cancer. This also hit myself and the family very hard and id like to think they will both be watching down on the day helping me get through the race :) xx
Love to all, please share far and wide x
For someone with blood cancer, a stem cell transplant could be their last chance of survival. Today, five people will start their search for a stranger to save their life. Anthony Nolan is the charity that makes lifesaving connections between people with blood cancer and incredible strangers ready to donate their stem cells. It costs £40 to add each new potential donor to the Anthony Nolan stem cell register. Every new person on the register means another chance for someone to find their lifesaving match. By donating you will be giving more people with blood cancer the chance of a future. Thank you so much. Together, we can keep saving lives.
