UK - Coast to Coast in a Day · 26 June 2021
In January this year, my younger brother, Sim, was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin Lymphoma cancer. A complete shock to him, his family and friends.
We are so grateful that Sim is now under the care of our amazing NHS who, despite COVID and a national lockdown, have been able to start his chemotherapy treatment.
Sim is an amazing long distance runner. Marathons are his passion and he has completed many all over the UK - something we are very proud of.
To represent this and to represent the endurance of Sim's treatment, I wanted to do something which pushed me to my limits and raised money for further research into cancer and cancer treatment.
On 26 June, Chris Gore and I will be riding across the UK in one day - 150 miles Coast to Coast, from Cumbria to Sim's home county of Yorkshire. This will include climbing over 4500m, including Britain's toughest cycling climb, Hardknott Pass, with a gradient that surpasses 30%. This is a physical test I know my brother would love and is a small gesture to Sim's courage and of all those going through cancer treatment.
We are seeking to raise money for Cancer Research UK (CRUK). CRUK work across the UK and 39 countries internationally, and are the world’s largest independent funder of cancer research.
They also provide amazing information and guidance, something Sim says is a real comfort to him.

I hope you will be motivated to support this cause and play a part in beating cancer.
