We support young people to follow their dreams and ambitions

Story

Thank you for your support for the John Thornton Young Achiever's Foundation (JTYAF). 'JT' was a great mate of mine and a true inspiration to us all. Here's a little about his story...

John was an exceptional person and an absolute inspiration to all who knew him. Tragically killed in March 2008 whilst doing the job he loved and commanding Royal Marines in Afghanistan, JT and I had spent many years relishing the opportunity to serve and lead soldiers in battle. It was a tragic shame that JT's high achievement resulted in him making the ultimate sacrifice.

The JTYAF was established in 2008 in John's memory, reflecting his passion for life and natural ambition. It serves to help young people pursue their dreams and fulfil their potential.

Over the last 10 years, the JTYAF has awarded over £500,000 in scholarships and bursaries to 1300 carefully selected young people to support their personal development and achieve their dreams.

The gruelling Dartmoor Ultra Marathon is an especially poignant event for JT's memory. The 31.1 mile route crosses the same hills and moorland which JT completed much of his Royal Marines Commando Training. Dartmoor was always a much loved and special place for JT and our friendship group.

Please support this outstanding cause generously and look out for updates on our progress on Twitter @neary_6 and Instagram @pazman_6 at #JTAFdartmoorultra or follow my training progress on Strava @ 'Ben Neary'.

Thank you!
