Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My running buddy and my wife's best friend Gemma was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour 4 years ago at the age of 29. Unfortunately, the tumour returned again in 2018 and was inoperable. In her last few months Gemma received amazing palliative care in St Helena Hospice's inpatient service. The hospice is set in a beautiful environment and staffed by caring and supportive staff. For Gemma's young Son's Dylan and Noah it was a place that wasn't scary; they could visit her whenever they wanted, sit with her in her room, play outside while she watched and have meals with her.

Every single member of staff is kind, calm and compassionate to Gemma, her family and friends. St Helena Hospice have given so much to Gemma and her loved ones and every other patient. I would love to be able to 'give back' to them.

Sadly, the NHS can only fund a small percentage of what it costs to keep St Helena Hospice running.

I want to raise £2000 which will pay for a Registered Nurse on the Inpatient Unit for just over 2 weeks. Please do donate so we can keep this amazing service running for the benefit of everyone in Colchester and the surrounding areas.
