Story
I wanted to try something a little different, but challenging at the same time so I have decided to run a charity marathon with a difference. Ben's Marathon Mayhem is a route that involves mainly road running but also a few sections of trail, taking in quite a few hills and some lovely sections of Essex Countryside.
It is starting with a popular and undulating Harlow Park Run, then down to the river Stort, along the tow path past Redricks lakes, up towards Old Harlow and through the High Street and on to Mark Hall Sports Centre. From there a bit of cross country to Churchgate street, then up to High Laver, then passing through Matching Tye, Matching Green and down to Moreton. From Moreton through some steady climbs across to Toot Hill, Toot Hill trail to North Weald Mast, then descending for the last few miles around North Weald Village and Thornwood to finish at North Weald Airfield.
I have secured some post race massage and I am also trying to arrange for a number of water stations to be in place. If all goes to plan I will also have the Air Ambulance helicopter and crew present if they aren't out on a shout, refreshments and drinks at the airfield.
Here comes the fun part, anyone is able to join me, I don't mind if you only run half a mile, 10 miles or the full marathon, but I will need as much support as you can muster, you can even cycle with me if you prefer, or cheer me through as we go past. I am aiming to run at 9.00 mile pace so not too quick, and I am happy to run slower to accommodate all involved. The challenge is to complete it, not to set any personal records and I hope that others can enjoy it and take part as well. I will ask that anyone wishing to join me does so by donating £5.00 through this page, all the money will go directly to the Air Ambulance, they really do do an amazing job, your support really is appreciated.
Thank you
Ben
