Story

When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community.

My Granddad suffered a stroke leaving him paralysed on one side. He was a very sporty and active person before suffering his stroke. In his school days he was a keen long distance runner and encouraged me to be a distance runner as well.He played rugby and was an international rugby referee and was the linesman for a France England game. He also played cricket and was president of the Scottish Cricket Union as well as a member of the MCC. Further more He was the president of the Forthill Sports Club and involved in organising a variety of sporting events representing the club. After suffering his stroke he still enjoyed watching all sports.
